intro |
Olive text indicates a specimen that has not been
thoroughly examined; for example, for microscopic details or other place in the text
where data is missing; for example, a place name or a measurement.
The following is based upon original research by R. E. Tulloss. |
pileus |
50 mm wide, white, becoming slightly gray in aging or when handled, convex, then planar with slight umbo, smooth, dry; context white, unchanging when cut or bruised, 1 - 1.5 mm thick; margin striate, nonappendiculate; universal veil absent; pileipellis peeling easily. |
lamellae |
free, with some decurrent lines on stipe apex, close, white to faintly pinkish in mass, drying tan (near 10YR 7/6), 5 mm broad; lamellulae ??. |
stipe |
up to 64 × 6.5 mm, white, becoming slightly grayish as in pileus, narrowing upward slightly, slightly fibrillose; context solid; exannulate; universal veil as saccate volva, flaring, white, 1.3 [c?]m deep, completely buried in substrate. |
odor/taste |
Odor absent. Taste not recorded. |
macrochemical tests |
none recorded. |
basidiospores |
[20/1/1] (10.1-) 10.6 - 13.2 (-14.3) × (7.2-) 7.7 - 9.9 (-10.0) µm, (L = 11.7 µm; W = 8.6 µm; Q = (1.11-) 1.20 - 1.55 (-1.83); Q = 1.37), hyaline, colorless, smooth, thin-walled, inamyloid, broadly ellipsoid to ellipsoid, infrequently subglobose or elongate, adaxially flattened, sometimes expanded at one end; apiculus sublateral, cylindric to narrowly truncate-conic; contents ??; white in deposit. |
ecology |
Subgregarious. Under Pinus cf. ponderosa in clayey soil. |
